    THE CONTAMINATION CONTINUES...

gammacide wraps up an eventful 2025 and prepares for 2026

2025 was a very eventful year for recently reunited thrashers GAMMACIDE.  After decades of silence, the band celebrated the 35th anniversary of their cult classic Victims of Science with a flurry of activity, including an devastating reunion show at HELLS HEROES and an East Coast tour!

GAMMACIDE was formed in 1986 in Arlington TX by guitarists Rick Perry and Scott Shelby and vocalist Varnam Ponville.  Their one and only scar on the metal scene came in the form of 1990's Victims of Science, one of the most violent thrash explosions ever captured on vinyl.  At the time of its release, Victims of Science was praised by the worldwide underground press as well as Metal Forces, Kerrang, Metal Hammer, and more.  For the next several years, GAMMACIDE was a terrorizing force amongst the Texas metal scene, and they shared the stage with many bands such as KREATOR, DARK ANGEL, EXODUS, MORBID ANGEL, DEATH, RIGOR MORTIS, WATCHTOWER, to name a few.  Although GAMMACIDE disbanded in 1993, Victims of Science has been reissued and re-released by several labels and has steadily gained a reputation among a new generation of thrashers who are spellbound by the albums raw, savage fury.

This year, GAMMACIDE reunited at the request of the HELLS HEROES festival in Houston.  Their scorching performance at this year's fest proved that GAMMACIDE in 2025 is just as explosive and deadly as they were back in the late 80's.  The rabid response they received immediatley led to more shows being booked including the band's first trip to the East coast, dubbed the Toxic Thrash Invasion Tour.  These shows were very successful, with GAMMACIDE drawing both the older diehards, and the new, younger generation of thrashers in cities like Brooklyn, Buffalo, Baltimore, and Chicago.

Now, original members Rick Perry and Scott Shelby (guitars) and vocalist Varnam Ponville, along with drummer Joey Gonzalez (PHIL ANSELMO AND THE ILLEGALS, WARBEAST) and bassist Alan Bovee (WARBEAST) are taking the next logical step, which is writing NEW material for a new album.  The follow up to Victims of Science, 35 years after the debut, is an event that many in the metal world will surely be excited and curious to experience, and GAMMACIDE is determined to create new songs that live up to their legacy.  More touring is also being planned, including a return to Brooklyn NY for the RAGE OF ARMAGEDDON festival in 2026, and a slot on Wisconsin's BLADES OF STEEL festival.

“This is thrash metal the way it's supposed to be — fast, mean, with snarling vocals, speed riffs, breakneck tempos, catchy parts, and a pissed-off attitude about the disastrous world around us. ” - Keith Bergman
